From a juvenile rimu, New Zealand’s ‘Red Pine’, this beautifully simple grain has just enough heart coming through that we can anticipate the mature log. The sap wood, the growing area flowing with nutrients, slowly dries and becomes hard, the strength is established in the heart, more to the centre of the tree from this transition. Our youth and energy is gradually replaced with experience and wisdom, giving strength to pass on.
